Privacy Policy
Effective 21 June 2026 · Last updated 21 June 2026
The short version
Faffa is a personal AI assistant that runs on your own computer. Your conversations, files, and the Google account content Faffa works with stay on your device. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI, and no human at Faffa reads your content.
Who we are
Faffa is independent desktop software (the “app”). In this policy, “Faffa”, “we” and “us” mean the app and its developer. This policy explains what data the app accesses, why, and where it lives. Questions? Email privacy@faffa.app.
What Google data Faffa accesses
Connecting a Google account is optional. If you choose to, Faffa requests only the scopes below — and nothing more. You grant them in Google's own consent screen and can revoke them at any time.
| Scope | Granted on | What it allows | Why Faffa needs it |
|---|---|---|---|
openid, email | Both Google accounts | Confirm the connected account and its email address | Show you which account is connected |
drive.file | Personal-assistant account | Read and write only the files Faffa creates, or that you specifically open with it — not your wider Drive | Save email attachments and create the Docs/Sheets you ask for |
calendar.events | Personal-assistant account | Create, read, update and delete calendar events | Schedule and manage the events you ask for |
calendar.freebusy | Personal-assistant account | Read free/busy windows on calendars | Find open times when scheduling |
tasks | Your personal account | Read and write your task lists | Manage your to-dos |
Faffa requests no Gmail or other email scopes. Email is handled entirely separately, over standard IMAP/SMTP using credentials youprovide; those credentials are stored in your operating system's keychain and are never sent to Google or to us.
How Faffa uses the data
Faffa uses Google data solely to provide the features above, at your direction — for example, creating a document you asked for or adding an event to your calendar. It is not used for any other purpose.
Where your data lives
Faffa processes and stores your data locally on your device (on Windows, under %APPDATA%/faffa/data/). Access tokens and API keys are kept in your operating system's keychain. Faffa's servers do not store your Google content, your files, or your conversations.
Sharing and third parties
To answer you, Faffa sends your messages — which may include Workspace content you reference — to the AI provider you choose (Google Gemini or OpenAI), purely to generate a response. That is the only place your content is transmitted, and only when you send a message. See the Gemini API terms and OpenAI's policies. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or have any human review your content.
AI/ML training — Limited Use
Faffa's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, Google Workspace data obtained through these scopes is notused to develop, improve, or train generalized or non-personalized AI/ML models. Content sent to your chosen API provider (the paid Google Gemini API or the OpenAI API) is not used by them to train their models, per those providers' API terms.
Retention and deletion
Because data lives on your device, it stays until youremove it. You can delete individual items in the app, run a Factory Reset (Settings → Danger Zone), or uninstall Faffa to remove local data. Disconnecting a Google account in Settings revokes Faffa's tokens. You can also review or revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Security
The AI is sandboxed: it has no access to your files, shell, or network beyond the specific tools you enable. Secrets (API keys and OAuth tokens) live in your operating system's keychain, and everything runs locally rather than on a shared server.
Children
Faffa is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Faffa evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date, and where appropriate noted in the app or release notes.
